Open WebUI
Add PromptsForLess to Open WebUI as an admin connection, verify it and choose which models appear in the picker.
Open WebUI connects to PromptsForLess over Chat Completions. Add it as an admin connection so your server holds the key and sends the requests.
Add your connection
- Open Settings → Admin → Connections.
- Under Manage OpenAI API Connections, choose Add Connection.
- Enter
https://api.promptsforless.com/v1as the URL and your PromptsForLess key from the dashboard. - Leave the advanced Provider setting on Default.
- Optionally add an allowlist of model IDs to keep the picker short.
- Save, then choose Verify Connection.
Open WebUI's OpenAI-compatible connection guide documents these settings. Verify Connection calls /models; it does not send a chat request.
Choose your models
Open WebUI lists every model your key can use. Pick the ones you want, or enter IDs in Model IDs to show only those. Use exact IDs from the catalog, such as deepseek-v4.1-flash. A display name you set can differ from the ID sent in requests.
Start a chat
Start a new chat, pick your model and ask for a short greeting. Once it replies, try streaming, tools or attachments.
Turn on features one by one
Image input needs a model that accepts images. Tool use needs a model with tool calling. RAG embeddings, speech and image generation have their own settings in Open WebUI; this connection covers chat. Leave Responses mode off.
Keep this as an admin connection so your key stays on the server.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Verification fails | Check the URL and key, then call /v1/models from the quickstart. |
| Picker is empty | Check that the connection is on and that the allowlist matches real IDs. |
| Text works but uploads or tools fail | Pick a model that supports that feature. |
| Container cannot connect | Check DNS and outbound HTTPS from the Open WebUI server or container. |
Use the quickstart to rule out HTTP errors before changing app settings.
