Kilo Code

Add PromptsForLess to Kilo Code as an OpenAI-compatible custom provider, fetch models and run your first task.

Kilo Code supports custom providers. Add PromptsForLess with the OpenAI Compatible provider API.

Add a provider

  1. Open Kilo Code's Settings → Providers.
  2. Choose Custom provider.
  3. Set Provider ID to promptsforless and Display name to PromptsForLess.
  4. Set Provider API to OpenAI Compatible.
  5. Enter https://api.promptsforless.com/v1 as Base URL and your key from the dashboard as API key.
  6. Fetch models, or add an ID by hand, such as deepseek-v4.1-flash.
  7. Save and select the model in the picker.

These fields follow Kilo's OpenAI-compatible provider documentation. Older extension versions show the same fields under an OpenAI Compatible provider option.

Run a small task

Send a short prompt in a new conversation. Then ask for a read-only explanation of a small local file and check that the tool call completes. For agent work, pick a model with tool calling.

Set context and output limits in Kilo's custom-model settings to match the model's page in the catalog. Turn on image input only for models that accept images.

Troubleshooting

SymptomFix
Fetch models failsCheck the key and base URL, then call /v1/models from the quickstart.
Model not foundUse the exact model ID from the catalog.
A token parameter is rejectedCheck which output-token field your Kilo Code version sends.
Text works but an agent action failsPick a model with tool calling and retry.

A direct quickstart request helps separate connection errors from editor settings. Check model prices before long sessions.
